Victoire Pisa takes Satsuki Sho

Yasunari Iwata, replaced by injured Yutaka Take, drove Victoire Pisa into front down the deep stretch, winning the 2010 Satsuki Sho(Japanese 2000 Guineas) at Nakayama on Sunday. The 2.3 favorite got home a 1 1/2-length ahead of second place Hiruno d'Amour in 2 minutes 0.80 second.
Another nose back, Eishin Flash finished third with Rose Kingdom fourth and Aliseo fifth.

After the field turned for home, Victoire Pisa was in the middle of heavy traffic jam, but Iwata decided to angle out inside and thrust into the crowd. The colt replied well when the jockey asked him to do so. In the last 100 meters, Victoire Pisa crept up alongside of the rail before quickly going into front.
His finishing kick was awesome. He left the rest behind as he drew away from the pack.

Victoire Pisa has now won five in 6 starts with 240+ million jp yen in career earnings for trainer K. Sumii and owner Y. Ichikawa. Shadai Farm in Chitose, Hokkaido was the breeder of the dark bay Neo Universe colt out of the Machiavellian mare Whitewater Affair.
